Omiš is a small port and fishing village 25 km south of split. Although its population will triple in the summertime the absence of hotels make it an enjoyable and relaxing tourist destination. Plenty of activities are offered in the area such as climbing, rafting and canoeing. While here be sure to visit the 13th century fortress Mirabela as well as the Franciscan monastery and the select few churches found in the old town. And then, grab a seat in one of the cafés, order a glass of mali plavac and ask the local to tell you the story of Omiš pirates.
